Hello, she beams, from a mouth that says a lot and means it all –
Hi, he smiles back, with a warmth within his eye that never fades
(neither of them know it yet).
Her brow furrows as she trips into him –
I didn’t realise you were made up of champagne and sand
and murmurs in the dark –
And what have you done to my heart?
His eyes widen as he wraps his arms around a waist
He hadn’t planned upon –
And where did you come from?
He picks a flower and puts it in her hair –
And, arms around their knees, they watch the buds furl in upon themselves.
Hi, she whispers wistfully, from a mouth that cannot capture what she feels –
Hello, he breathes back, with a note that aches and slowly fades away.
and murmurs in the dark –
And what have you done to my heart?
His eyes widen as he wraps his arms around a waist
He hadn’t planned upon –

And, arms around their knees, they watch the buds furl in upon themselves.
